  1. How do I remove the cap?
    To remove the cap, put your thumb on the top of the cap covering the USB icon and pull off while applying downwards pressure on the cap.

  2. Do I need to install the drivers?
    Drivers are required to be installed if using Windows 98SE. No drivers are required if using other OS.

  3. Do I need to install the drivers for MAC OS?
    The MelodiStik FX supports MAC OS 9.2 and higher, no drivers are required to be installed.

  4. Can I play the music directly from SD/MMC card?
    Yes, you can play and listen to music directly from SD/MMC Card. After power on, please insert SD/MMC card and then you will see music name if they are already saved on the card. Click play button and you will be able to listen to the music.

  5. Does the SD/MMC card stick out while plugged into the SD Reader?
    Yes, approximately 0.4 inches.

  6. What sizes of external SD/MMC card can be connected to MelodiStik FX?
    Maximum external memory SD/MMC card of range 128/256/512MB can be connected.

  7. How to turn the power On/Off. Play/Stop?
    The power will be turned on when PLAYBACK button is pressed over two or more seconds and then press PLAYBACK button again to play the music. Press PLAYBACK button to pause or stop, press PLAYBACK for more than 3 seconds to turn off the power.

  8. How to select the next or previous song/file?
    Press the FF tab for next song/file. Press the RR tab for previous song/file.

  9. How do I control the volume?
    Move the Mode Key to VOL + for volume up and move the Mode Key to VOL - for volume down. The volume can be controlled in the range of 00-30.

  10. How do I listen to FM Station?
    Press the M (Control Button) to select the FM.
    Press the forward and rewind keys on the control button to select the FM station.

  11. How do I change the FM Preset station?
    To change/overwrite the Preset FM Station, follow the steps as below.
    1) Select the Preset FM that you want to overwrite.
    2) Push the mode button down once to reset the FM station.
    3) Press the forward and rewind keys on the control button to select the FM station.
    4) Once you reach the desired station, press the Play/Pause button to set the preset FM station.

  12. Why is the one earbud longer then the other earbud?
    The right earbud (the longer piece) loops behind the neck so the wiring does not come in the way.

  13. Can I change the MP3/WMA bit rate (compression)?
    The bit rate can be controlled between the 32kbps and 256kbps by going into the firmware settings (by holding down the M (Control Button) button for 4 seconds).

  14. What is the recording frequency?
    The recording frequency can be set to 32KHz - 44.1KHz - 48KHz.

  15. While recording using Line-In option does MelodiStik FX create seperate MP3 files when there is a pause between one song and another?
    MelodiStik FX creates one file when recording using Line-In option. To break the file in different MP3 songs, stop and record at every change of song. New file with Line-### (Number) will be created.

  16. Can I connect MelodiStik FX to a 2.0 USB Port?
    The MelodiStik FX is USB 1.1 compliant and compatible with USB 2.0.

  17. How many songs can my MelodiStik FX store?
    The MelodiStik FX with 128MB capacity can store up to 32 songs. (Based on an average of 4MB per song). You can increase your storage by adding the SD/MMC card.

  18. I have lost / damaged my Arm Band, where can I get a new one?
    Arm Band is available for purchase at the website.

  19. I have lost / damaged my Battery Cover, where can I get a new one?
    Battery Cover is available for purchase at the website.

  20. I have lost / damaged my Cap, where can I get a new one?
    Cap is available for purchase at the website.

  21. What are the steps to upgrade the firmware?
    Steps to upgrade the firmware:
    1. Download the latest version MelodiStik FX Version 1.13.
    2. Unzip and save the downloaded file on to your computer.
    3. Turn the MelodiStik FX ON, and press the MODE (M) button.
    4. Press the forward button till you view FW Upgrade wizard.
    5. Press PLAYBACK button once.
    6. FW Upgrade Not Connect will be displayed on the LCD screen.
    7. Connect the MelodiStik to the PC through the USB Port.
    8. FW Upgrade Connected will be displayed on the LCD screen.
    9. Click the icon     MelodiStik utility
    (Shortcut icon gets generated on your desktop when installing JMTek_Installer.exe from CD.)

    Step 10:
    Application as below will open.

    Step 11:
    Click on Menu - Firmware Upgrade.

    Step 12:
    Button Firmware Upgrade will be active. Click on Firmware Upgrade button to select the file.

    Select Melodistik_FX_Firmware113K.HEX file and click Open.

    14. The old firmware will be removed.
    15. New firmware will be installed.
    16. Click Ok when the message "Done...Please, Restart this program and re-try USB plug-in and out" appears.
    17. Unplug the MelodiStik FX, POWER OFF and turn it ON again. Your firmware is upgraded.

    Note: Please do not unplug the drive when firmware upgrade is in process.


  22. How do I use the arm band?
    Steps to use the arm band:

    Step1:
    Insert the MelodiStik FX in the case.

    Step 2:
    Insert the Arm Band in the case.

    Lock the arm band.

    Insert into your arm.

  23. How do I use the neck strap?
    Steps to use the neck strap:

    Step1:
    Unscrew the neck strap pin.

    Step 2:
    Release the neck strap pin.

    Insert the thread in the clip.

    Step 4:
    Wear the neck strap.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

  1. I get disturbances while listening to FM Radio Station?
    The headphones work as an antenna. Please make sure if the headphone pin is securely plugged in to MelodiStik FX.

  2. I deleted all the files on the MelodiStik FX, but still the file shows up.
    Some of the files may have got cached on the system and may not get deleted, please do a quick format of the drive using Windows XP FAT16 file system. This will bring it back to its original condition. Note: Formatting the drive will erase all the data on the drive.

  3. My AAA battery fits loose?
    Batteries may vary in length based on different manufacturer. The problem with batteries can be fixed by slightly pulling the positive connector of the MelodiStik FX.

  4. The unit will no longer power ON, what can I do?
    The battery may be loose in the compartment, please adjust the spring to make sure that the battery is secure. Also make sure that the hold switch is OFF prior to powering ON the unit.

  5. If you play a file located on the SD card it does not remember that the file was on the SD card and resumes playing a different file form the internal memory after the unit is turned off.
    Once the unit is turned off it will not remember the song location for the SD memory, it can remember only the location for internal memory.
